Dangers Of Using Fake Sunglasses

Find Out Why:
Imitation Sunglasses Can Damage Your Eyes Without You Even Knowing!

There are a lot of imitation sunglasses on the streets nowadays, especially where I come from, in the far east. These sunglasses are of course naturally cheap and some can actually cost as low as USD$2.50 or USD$4.00 and can actually look very fashionable and original once worn by a person. Some of these imitations can only be discovered as such upon closer inspection as the finish is naturally not as good as the original ones. However, there are a few dangers to consider before using imitation sunglasses:

  • The main problem is (of course) that imitation sunglasses are no good for the wearers' eyes. For example, the lens on an original pair of sunglasses will have Ultraviolet (UV) protection. The fake ones do not. When you use these fake sunglasses in the open, harmful ultraviolet rays will enter your eyes when you use the glasses. You only have shade from the lenses, but no protection.

  • If a person wears fake sunglasses when the sun is shining brightly, he may also have a problem. Due to the shade provided by the lenses, your eyes will 'think' that it is darker than it actually is, thus allowing more sunlight to enter your eyes. Lenses on original sunglasses have UV protection but the lenses on 'knock-off' sunglasses do not, thus allowing even more harmful rays into the wearer's eyes, damaging them even further.

  • The cheap lenses on the imitation sunglasses may not be even, even though only slightly. One lens may also be different from the next, giving you a slight difference in 'focal power' from one eye to the next. Your eyes may be damaged slowly through the uneven lenses or uneven powered lenses without you even noticing.

So, buy original sunglasses. They do not have to be expensive or even branded. They just have to be safe - and hopefully look good on you!
